High Speed Rail Summit a one-day conference which brought together HSR industry experts from around the world - Japan, France, Germany, Italy and Spain - to share their experience with a UK audience. TransportPR devised and led the PR strategy to promote this event to the press and establish key media partners. Secretary of State for Transport Lord Andrew Adonis attended the event for the entire day. TransportPR managed several podcast interviews with key experts (click ‘interviews’ tab). Over 20 journalists including UK broadsheets and trade press and over 250 delegates attended the event in September 2009.
Cyclists’ Touring Club (CTC) is a UK cycling membership organization. CTC aims to promote cycling as a mode of transport and healthy lifestyle choice as well as a fun recreational activity. Transport PR provided a detailed positioning report (Summer 2009) for CTC Director Kevin Mayne on the likely development activities for CTC in Scotland. A new initiative managed by CTC and funded by ASDA - BikeClub - will employ staff in Scotland from 2010.
Greengauge 21 is a not-for-profit organization which aims to research and promote the development of a high-speed rail network in the UK. Transport PR targeted potential partners (and funding partners) for the initial research programme. Twenty public and private sector organizations supported Greengauge 21’s definitive high-speed rail network plan - Fast Forward: A high-speed rail strategy for Britain - which reported in September 2009. Transport PR set up and managed the press and VIP launch event at CBI Centre Point, London, September 2009.
Steer Davies Gleave is a leading independent transport consultancy with around 400 consultants worldwide. Transport PR provided the company’s B2B public relations through:
1. Advice and positioning
2. Developing business opportunities and leads
3. Promotion of key consultants and projects through the press and events
4. Copy writing
Essex County Council is one of the largest transport authorities in the UK. Marion helped prepare the County Council’s 2nd Local Transport Plan (2006 - 2011) which was used to bid for funding, from central Government.
Commission for Integrated Transport (CfIT) is an independent transport body advising the Government on transport policy. Marion worked with Professor David Begg on several influential reports including “Quick wins on pollution; ‘Value for money from bus subsidies” and “Paying for Road Use”. Marion helped develop a strategy to sell these reports to Government, wider stakeholders and the media (2003).
National Bike Week is a major UK cycling promotional event. Marion ran the National Bike Week and Bike to Work Day campaigns for two consecutive years (1997 and 1998) adopting a sustainable transport focus and negotiated a major sponsorship deal.
The Kings Fund is an independent charitable foundation working for better health especially in London. Marion worked for Professor Kerry Hamilton at the University of East London on a research study investigating if there was a link between transport and missed hospital appointments.
